Nichols, SC; January 29, 2021: Ryan Heath and the 6r team are racing outside of the New York border for the first time. The team made the 16-hour haul from Massachusetts to Lake View Motor Speedway in South Carolina for the South of the Border Showdown!

Practice night left RHR with great notes and a lot of confidence.

The 6r time trialed with a 19.203 but transponder issues made it hard to follow. Starting 8th in Heat 2, put the 6r in a vulnerable position as cars jockeyed for position from the drop of the green flag. When the field re-stacked for a restart, Ryan was on the outside and things went wild.

Coming off 2 the 6r drifted up the track and caught the cushion. Momentum carried him over the edge of the track and sent him rolling. In a weekend of firsts, why not add first time upside down in a racecar to the list?

The 6r rolled twice before going out of view of both cameras and spectators. Track safety officials made their way to Ryan and radioed that the driver was okay which allowed for a sign of relief from his friends, family, and crew. The surprises kept coming as Ryan was able to fire up the 6r and drive it back around to his pit area.

Ryan and the crew assessed the damage and determined that most was cosmetic. The team will work to make the few needed repairs tonight and the 6r will be back on the track tomorrow night at Lake View Motor Speedway.

The event is being covered by Speed51.TV and will be taped for a future episode of “Short Track America” on MAVTV bringing additional exposure for our Northeast Mods.
